Privacy Policy

1. Who we are
NEPSE ALERT (anantadhungana.com.np) is operated by Ananta Dhungana, an independent Elliott Wave analyst covering the Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE). This policy explains what information we collect when you use the site, why we collect it, and how you can control it.
2. Information we collect
Account information. When you sign in (Google, email/password, email OTP, magic link, or phone SMS), we store your name, email address, and profile photo if provided. Phone sign-in additionally requires an email before your account is complete.
Content you create. Discussion posts and comments, Wave Journal entries, Watchlist selections, and feedback submissions are stored against your account.
AI feature usage. Questions you ask the AI Analyst tools (Fundamentals AI Analyst, SIP AI Analyst, Wave-I) are sent to a third-party AI provider (see Section 4) to generate a response, and a record of your usage count is kept to enforce fair-use limits.
Newsletter. If you opt in, your email is stored to send NEPSE analysis updates. You can unsubscribe at any time.
Push notifications. If you enable browser push notifications, we store a device subscription token (not tied to any personal identifier beyond your account) to deliver alerts.
Automatically collected data. Our hosting provider (Vercel) and Firebase log standard technical data such as IP address, browser type, and request timestamps for security and performance purposes. If Google Analytics is enabled, it collects anonymized usage statistics (pages visited, time on site) via cookies.
3. How we use your information
- To create and secure your account, and to identify you across the site.
- To operate features that require login — Watchlist, Wave Journal, AI Analyst tools, Pro access, and admin functions.
- To send transactional or opted-in communications (newsletter, price/target alerts, push notifications).
- To maintain fair, abuse-resistant usage of shared AI quotas.
- To diagnose and fix technical issues.
We do not sell your personal information to anyone, and we do not use your data for targeted advertising.
4. Third parties we rely on
We use the following third-party services to run the site. Each processes data under its own privacy policy:
- Firebase (Google) — authentication, database (Firestore), and push notification delivery.
- Vercel — website hosting and server logs.
- Groq, Google Gemini, Anthropic, and/or OpenAI — process the text of questions you submit to an AI Analyst tool, to generate a response. Only the question text and relevant market data are sent; your name/email are not included in these requests.
- Google Analytics (if enabled) — anonymized site usage statistics.
We do not process payments on this site. A donation option (eSewa) simply displays an ID for you to send a voluntary donation through your own eSewa app — no payment details pass through NEPSE ALERT.
5. Legal basis for processing
Nepal's Individual Privacy Act, 2075 (2018) — enacted under Article 28 of the Constitution of Nepal, 2072 (2015), which protects the right to privacy — is the primary law governing how we handle your personal data. We process your data on the following bases: (a) your consent when you create an account or opt into a feature such as the newsletter or push notifications; (b) our legitimate interest in operating, securing, and improving the site (e.g. fraud/abuse prevention, fair usage of shared AI quotas); and (c) performance of the account relationship you enter into with us when you sign up.
6. Cross-border data transfer
Several of the third-party services we rely on (Section 4) — including Firebase/Google, Vercel, and the AI providers used by our AI Analyst tools — store or process data on servers located outside Nepal. By using the site, you understand that your account information and content may be transferred to, and processed in, countries other than Nepal, which may have different data protection standards. We select well-established providers and limit what is sent to each (see Section 4 for exactly what each service receives).
7. Data retention
We keep your account data for as long as your account is active. AI usage counters reset daily and are not kept long-term. Discussion posts, comments, and journal entries persist until you delete them or delete your account.
8. Your rights and choices
- Access and correction: update your display name and profile from your account settings.
- Deletion: you can permanently delete your account and associated data at any time from Account Settings.
- Newsletter opt-out: unsubscribe via the link in any newsletter email, or from your account settings.
- Push notifications: disable at any time from your browser's notification permissions.
9. Security
In line with the security safeguards required under the Individual Privacy Act, 2075 (2018), we rely on Firebase Authentication and Firestore security rules to restrict access to your data — only you and site administrators (for support/moderation purposes) can access your account data. Data in transit is encrypted (HTTPS/TLS), admin functions are gated behind verified admin accounts, and access-granting actions (such as admin role changes) require explicit confirmation to reduce accidental exposure. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, and will notify affected users if we become aware of a data breach materially affecting their account.
10. Children's privacy
Under Nepal's National Civil Code, 2074 (2017), the age of majority is 18 years. This site is not directed at children, and anyone under 18 should only create an account or submit content with the involvement and consent of a parent or guardian. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children without such consent, and will delete any such data we become aware of on request.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time as the site evolves. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date above.
12. Contact
Questions about this policy or your data can be sent via the Feedback page.
This policy is provided for general transparency and is not a substitute for formal legal advice. See also our Terms of Service.
